The Municipality of Lemery, through its Environment and Natural Resources Office (ENRO) successfully conducted the Barter Basura Caravan on May 2, 2025 at Barangay Anabo, Lemery, Iloilo. This initiative aimed to promote environmental awareness and waste reduction by encouraging residents to exchange their recyclable materials for useful household items—a clear demonstration that waste can indeed be turned into opportunity. Collected recyclable materials during the caravan included plastic and glass bottles, assorted hard plastic, and cartons.
The success of the activity was made possible through the strong support and active involvement of the community. Special thanks are extended to Hon. Pedro Suyo, Punong Barangay of Anabo and Liga ng mga Barangay President, as well as to the barangay kagawads for their cooperation and leadership in mobilizing residents and ensuring the smooth flow of the activity. A particularly heartwarming highlight of the event was the enthusiastic participation of children who eagerly joined in bringing recyclable materials and learning the value of responsible environmental action. Their presence served as a reminder of the importance of instilling eco-conscious habits at an early age.
The caravan drew enthusiastic participation from locals who came together not only to exchange recyclables but also to take part in a shared commitment to environmental protection. Through this initiative, we reinforced the values of sustainability, community action, and environmental responsibility.
Together, we made a meaningful step toward building a cleaner, greener, and more sustainable Lemery. ♻️🌱
