Subject: NARRATIVE HISTORICAL BACKGROUND AND PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION
It was then Sitio Maragasras of brgy Bankal. A forested land, but far from accessible road that makes the place a quite and not inhabited for quite time. An enterprising young man from Ajuy made a second though and settle in the area accumulating the whole place into one landed state owned by Antonio Causing.
Antonio bring their tenants and relative in the place they called Sitio Maragasras. By then this early settlers cut trees and develop the area for crops. As time passed by although the harvest is abundant yet the Causing’s find difficulty especially in transporting the produce and the input. Thinking of consolidating his property in one place ajuy he bartered the landholding with the Bacabac who also owned a property in Ajuy. The transaction was consumed. The land now is under the ownership of the Bacabac.
The inhabitant gradually increase in number due to intermarriage and birth. There grow in number that they decided to separate from Bankal, thus the name the new barangay after the first owner Antonio. Now at present the area belongs to the Briones and the Macavintas and their tenants enjoy the blessing of the agrarian reform program thus the area is expected to be divided among the CLT holders.
San Antonio is a boundary barangay of the province of Iloilo and Capiz. The road network is much improved and that resident of San Antonio find easy to commute to Dumarao especially during market days in brgy Dacuton of Dumarao. The brgy could be reached thru barangay roads that is about 5 kms from the National Highway in brgy Gerongan. The area is slightly slope in topography that it was once planted to sugarcane. Upland crops and livestock use to occupy the area.it is being traverse by Gerongan creek hopes that roads be constructed connecting brgy San Diego thus a circumferential road is anticipated to ease up communication and mobilization of people. The brgy is bounded by brgy San Diego in the East, Brgy Tina in the North Brgy Magalan of Capiz in the West and Brgy Bankal in the South.
