The Municipality of Lemery received an award of Gawad Kalikasan through the approval of a ten-year Solid Waste Management Plan by the National Solid Waste Management Commission (NSWMC) at the District 21 Hotel, Iloilo on September 26, 2022.

One of the mandates of the Department of Environment and Natural Resource – Environmental Management Bureau by RA 9003, known as the Ecological Solid Waste Management Act of 2000, is to craft and formulate of solid waste management plan per Municipality. By this, through the effort of the Office of the Municipal Mayor, the Municipality of Lemery has crafted and formulated a ten-year solid waste management plan, and the DENR – EMB recognized our effort and received an award.
